💦 Water, water, water.. we hear it over and over again from Health Professionals across the globe. They rave of it’s impressive benefits and competitive advantage against other beverages. But what exactly ARE the benefits of Water? And exactly how much Water should we be drinking? Now I’ll be totally honest here: I do not drink enough water, and because of this, I thought it’d be really great to research about the perks of this natural hydrator and hopefully motivate me to drink a little more of it on the daily. Water helps flush out all those nasty toxins in your body:
Our Kidneys do an amazing job every single day of flushing out all the naughty toxins in our bodies, helping us to stay healthy and happy. But despite them being absolute troopers in their own right, our kidneys need a vital sidekick to function correctly, and that role belongs to Water! Water helps to get rid of toxins through sweat and urination, even helping us in reducing the risk of developing painful Kidney Stones and Urinary Tract Infections, too!
Water improves skin complexion:
As a 22 year old girl with zits left, right and centre(🙈), my skin complexion is an area of my body which I am genuinely quite conscious about. And after reading that Water can actually help to clear you skin, I’m totally #TeamWater already! 💦
A natural remedy for adding moisture to your skin, helping smooth-out wrinkles and heal spots, Water really is an impressive tool to keep us looking young, healthy and glowing!
Water keeps us hydrated:
Dehydration sucks, I’m sure you’ll agree. And it’s symptoms come in all shapes and sizes such as migranes, back pain, headaches, tiredness, dizziness and more😢. I personally struggle a lot with feeling headachy and very ‘muzzy headed’, and this, I’ve been told by my doctor, is due to dehydration. Not drinking enough Water results in your blood thickening slightly, which pushes your Heart to work harder to pump the blood around your body. This therefore can lead to dizziness and feelings of light headedness. Drinking more Water helps to thin your blood ever so slightly which assists your Heart and can relieve these types of sensations in your mind.
Promotes Weight Loss:
Drinking Water is a great help if you’re looking to lose weight. Many Health Professionals recommend drinking a glass of water before each meal, due to the simple fact that a big glass of water can make you feel fuller and therefore potentially reduce the amount of food you eat. The health resource website WebMD actually states that drinking water before meals results in average, a reduction in intake of 75 calories per meal.
Water is also an incredible and natural source of hydration which contains absolutely zero calories, in comparison to other beverages such as fizzy drinks, frothy coffee’s or alcohol which can contain up to 300 calories each!🙄
Increases energy and relieves fatigue:
75% of our Brain is made up of Water, which is just one of the many reasons why it’s incredibly important that we make sure we’re replenishing our bodies correctly. Drinking Water helps us think, and therefore boosts our concentration levels and alertness. Adding to this, Water can also boost your energy levels, so if you’re in need of a little pick-me-up maybe opt for a bottle of Water next time as opposed to a creamy latte.👊
Boosts your metabolism:
Okay so how cool is this? That drinking Water can actually BOOST your metabolism! *mind blown*😵 According to WebMD, drinking ice cold water actually helps boost your metabolism because your body has to work harder to warm that water up, therefore burning more calories and helping you to lose weight as well.

It is estimated that approximately 63 million people suffer from Constipation all over the world. Many of whom experience unpleasant symptoms such as Bloating, Abdominal Pain, Nausea, and severe difficulty when passing stools. With so many people enduring this type of discomfort, it’s incredible to know that Water is one of the greatest forms of relief. Constipation is related to Dehydration in the Colon, and so drinking enough Water ensures that your stools stay soft and therefore easy to pass.
Another incredible fact about Water which I wasn’t previously aware of, is that Water acts as a shock absorber for our Brain and Spinal Cord. It’s also used in the body to lubricate joints and keep our muscles elasticated, which helps prevent injury and allows us to move with ease. 🙌
So exactly how much Water should I be drinking?
Many Nutritionists recommend us to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to stay healthy. However if you are exercising on top of your daily regime, a lot of Health Professionals advise to drink more water in this case to ensure we don’t become dehydrated.
Personally I’m going to aim to drink eight glasses of Water throughout each day, with an additional bottle of water in my training session. I think the most important thing is to make sure that you listen to your body and bare in mind that we need Water to survive, so don’t let hydration become an area of neglect.❤️
